Vessel Operating Costs: Everything under Control
29.11.2014
The company NAVES Corporate Finance and the auditing firm TPW - Todt and
Partners from Hamburg have since 2013 jointly published the so-called
"Ship Management Report" which performs a detailed comparison of vessel
operating costs for container vessels and thereby allows benchmarking
the industry.
Previously, the HSH-Nordbank had for many years published a study nearly identical in content, the publication of which, however, was ceased two years ago. The two companies specialized to the maritime industry have then joined forces for the first time in 2013 to create a benchmark study that continues to be interesting for the industry.
Analysis of the figures again delivers very satisfactory results for the Jüngerhans fleet. Because the vessel operating costs of the Jüngerhans fleet are again in all size classes below the average values of market comparison – at the peak of up to 31 percent.
"It's nice to see that the daily efforts and challenges of our active cost management can be made tangible in these numbers," said Herm Jüngerhans regarding these results. This was even more so as the general technical condition of the vessels continues to be awarded the utmost attention. For their special commitment, he extended special thanks to the crews of the vessels and the competent personnel ashore. It would be important, especially in economically difficult times, to continue to ensure good servicing and maintenance condition of the vessels, since small defects and downtimes are an essential feature for the quality of the entire fleet. Especially in times when the charterer due to the market situation have multiple vessels to choose from, their condition and the expected reliability are a decision criterion not to be underestimated.
