MV "LENA J" taken over

(2014-12-01) With MV "LENA J", another heavy-lift vessel was a few days
ago added to the operated fleet. The vessel had previously been acquired
by a fund of the Oltmann Group. The Jüngerhans shipping company, having
15 year of experience in ship management of heavy-lift vessels, was
entrusted with the technical management.
It is a heavy-lift vessel with a loading capacity of 9,500 dwt. The vessel was delivered in July of 1998 by the JJ Sietas shipyard in Neuenfelde. The two main cranes mounted on the port side have a combined lifting capacity of 275 tons SWL. An additional crane at the stern manages 150 tons SWL. The vessel of the type "Sietas161" is 151.65 meters in length, has a 20.40 meter beam and a draft of 7.85 meters. The type MAN B&W 9L48/60 main engine, having a power output of 9,450 kw, generates a speed of 19.5 knots.
The first voyage after the takeover went from Masan to Shanghai. An entire ship main engine with a total weight of 2,000 tons was on board among other things. It is heaviest part, the so-called "bottom plate", was loaded together with part of the vessel crankshaft and incl. traverse and accessory material weighed about 420 tons that were loaded with the ship's own cranes 1 and 2 in tandem operations.
