Jüngerhans operating heavy-lift newbuilding
The Jüngerhans shipping company from Haren has taken over ship operations for the first of a series of four modern heavy-lift vessels. The series is built at the shipyard Huanghai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. in the Chinese city of Rongcheng. They are a version optimized in many respects of the vessels known and proven in the market as "F-type". At a length of 147 meters and a beam of 22.80 meters with a draft of 8.10 meters, a loading capacity of 12,500 tons (dwt) is reached.
Under a large end-to-end hatch (76.5 x 17.6 meters), the box-shaped main cargo hold with flexibly adjustable tweendecks and a high permissible load upon the floor of up to 25t/m² provides optimum conditions for efficient project and heavy-lift transportation.
The two heavy-lift cranes mounted on the port side have a lifting capacity of 250 tons each. In combined operation, loads of up to 500 tons can be lifted without the need of mounting a stability pontoon. A 45-ton auxiliary hoist is also available for general cargo transportation. The hatch system comprises fully automated folding covers and only two pontoon covers.
Shipbuilding optimizations in terms of hull lines and the drive system with a rudder and propeller system, and a modern 2-stroke main engine type MAN 5G45ME-C9.5 having a capacity of 4.800kw provide a speed of 15 knots with the greatest possible energy efficiency. The development of this design was performed in close cooperation between the charterer and ARKON Shipping & Projects and takes into account the demands of cargo customers in terms of modern tonnage. ARKON Shipping & Projects also brokered the long-term charter employment for the vessels. The first vessel of the "New S-Class 500" has taken up operations under the name MV "INDUSTRIAL SKIPPER". While Jüngerhans shipping company has first assumed vessel operations and technical management for two vessels ordered by a Dutch shipping group, a newbuilding expected for October shall be taken into service for their own fleet. One vessel from the series is built for a shipping company from Hamburg.
